QSE has been a member of the UN’s Sustainable Stock Exchange initiative (‘SSE’) since 2016 part of which was to state: “We voluntarily commit, through dialogue with investors, companies and regulators, to promoting long-term sustainable investment and improved environmental, social and corporate governance disclosure and performance among companies listed on our exchange.”

 

In relation to this QSE seeks to follow the World Federation of Exchanges’ Principles:

Principle 1 - Exchanges will work to educate participants in the exchange ecosystem about the importance of sustainability issues.• We provide training for issuers on ESG reporting and disclosure.
• We have published ESG reporting guidance to assist issuers.
• We provide an online tool (QSE Arab Sustainability Platform) for companies to publish best practice ESG disclosure reporting
• QSE holds regular webinars and seminars related to educating the market on sustainability issues and sector themes.
Principle 2 - Exchanges will promote the enhanced availability of investor-relevant, decision-useful ESG information.• We provide investors with access to ESG data through our QSE MSCI ESG Index product, covering more than 1000 data points,
80 business segment and geographies and 35 industry-specific metrics so they can compare against their peers and discover best
practice disclosure in their industry. This allows investors to identify an investible universe of ESG relevant equities.
• Our reporting guidance helps issuers to produce investor-relevant, decision-useful ESG information.
Principle 3 - Exchanges will actively engage with stakeholders to advance the sustainable finance agenda.• QSE recognises the importance of ongoing stakeholder engagement. Comprehensive engagement builds trust and helps to manage expectations. As such, we engage with stakeholders through multiple channels in order to consider feedback and ensure that our decisions benefit all stakeholders
Principle 4 - Exchanges will provide markets and products that support the scaling-up of sustainable finance and reorientation of financial flows.• We provide a route to SME financing through the dedicated QE Venture Market.
• We provide investors with access to ESG data through our QSE MSCI ESG Index product covering more than 1000 data points, 80 business segment and geographies and 35 industry-specific metrics so they can compare against their peers and discover best practice disclosure in their industry. This allows investors to identify an investible universe of ESG-relevant equities.
• Our ESG reporting guidance helps companies understand best practice reporting.
Principle 5 - Exchanges will establish effective internal governance and operational processes and policies to support their sustainability efforts.• We continue to assess the materiality of ESG and related risks and to integrate these considerations into our Enterprise-wide Risk Management framework increasingly.

 

QSE is a participant in the regional partnership with UNCTAD-ISAR. UNCTAD-ISAR assists member States in their efforts towards implementation of international standards, codes and best practices to facilitate financial stability, international and domestic investment, social and economic progress. UNCTAD through its ISAR group is working on the enhancement of the role of enterprise reporting on attaining the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

 

 

QSE is a participant in Qatar’s The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), which is a treaty-based international, inter-governmental organization dedicated to supporting and promoting strong, inclusive and sustainable economic growth in developing countries and emerging economies.
